The Heart and Your Treasure

Matthew 6:19
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

The heart is naturally connected to where your treasures are placed. Treasure is something that you cherish and admire. The heart has an esteem value for treasures, it cannot be easily detached or separated from one another. The heart at times may not be physically where treasures are but it ponders on them and long to be wherever they are kept.

The Lord instructed the disciples to avoid laying up treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust destroys and thieves break through and steal. The safe place where your treasures can be kept is in heaven. Your daily spiritual labour and investment here on earth can be transferred and credited to your Heavenly account, beyond the reach of corruption or thieves. It will be intact for you to enjoy in the kingdom of heaven after this life.

The heart will be so devastated, when at the long run all that men laboured to gather in the world as treasures is eaten up by moth and becomes decayed. It’s heart breaking, when you realize that at the end of this life, you are not allow to take anything away from this world to the other side.

This call for wisdom, lay up your treasures above, so that your heart can always be fixed on things above. ‘The world is passing by and everything in it.’ If you give priority to the kingdom of God, these other good things of life will follow without struggle. (Matt. 6:33) Let’s be wise!

God bless you!
